Ladies, gentlemen and everyone in between, start your engines and may the best wombat win because Stan just revealed the premiere date for RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under.
After announcing the series back in January – and the uber-talented cast at the Sydney Gay and Lesbian MardiGras – Stan officially told us when we can finally expect to see our local queens sashay and shantay the runway and into our hearts. And, as it turns out, it’s coming real soon.
RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under will premiere on Stan on Saturday May 1. That’s only three weeks away and just a week after the finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13.
Over on his Instagram, Drag Race Down Under judge and Aussie comedian Rhys Nicholson, 30, teased a bit more about the forthcoming first Aussie and New Zealand season of the hit Emmy-winning reality TV show, hosted by RuPaul Charles, 60.
“Oh my God, I’m so excited for you to meet everyone,” Nicholson said. “Every single queen in this series will be someone’s favourite drag queen. I’m just so excited for you to see it.”

RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under was filmed in Auckland, New Zealand, and stars a fantastic cast of Aussie and Kiwi drag queens, from Sydney’s Etcetera Etcetera and Maxi Shield to Melbourne’s Karen From Finance and Art Simone, the latter of whom had a brief cameo on Matt Agnew’s season of The Bachelor.
The eight-part series is hosted by RuPaul, with singer and veteran Drag Race judge and co-host Michelle Visage and Rhys Nicholson joining the judges panel.
While the show was filmed with COVID-19 restrictions, we’ve been told to expect celebrity guest judges, and fans reckon that includes a Kylie Minogue and Kath and Kim cameo.
In the meantime, meet the queens of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under below.
