After securing his first-ever podium finish in Formula 1 at the 2023 Japanese Grand Prix, McLaren driver Oscar Piastri has proven to be one of the sport’s best young talents.
Known throughout the paddock for his signature dry wit, the 24-year-old Australian driver has continued to charm fans across the globe, with many following his life outside the track as closely as the 2023 Driver’s Championship.
More recently, Piastri was left devastated after coming second to Max Verstappen at the Qatar Grand Prix, after McLaren’s strategy not to pit on lap seven failed to work as intended.
The move saw Verstappen claim his seventh victory of the F1 season, while Piastri said in a post-race interview, “It just wasn’t to be.”
“We didn’t get it right tonight,” Piastri said. “I drove the best race that I could … I tried my best. It just wasn’t to be tonight.”
He added, “I think in hindsight it was pretty obvious what we should have done. I’m sure we will discuss it as a team.”
While the Aussie-born racing star didn’t come out on top in Qatar, he is certainly winning in his private life and is sure to find comfort in the arms of his long-term partner.
Who is Lily Zneimer, Oscar Piastri’s girlfriend?
Oscar Piastri is in a relationship with Lily Zneimer, with the pair having been together since high school (awww!!).
According to F1 paddock photographer Kym Ilman, Zneimer is British and recently graduated from university with a degree in engineering.
While the couple keep the specific details surrounding their relationship out of the public eye, Oscar shared in an interview with 9News that the couple have been together for over four-and-a-half years as of July 2023. He has also previously told host Dax Shepard on the Eff Won with DRS podcast that he started dating Lily during his second-to-last year of school.
“We keep it private, [but] not secretive like some relationships are,” Piastri said. “We keep it to ourselves and try to be out of the spotlight and just live normal lives.”
The couple debuted their relationship on the McLaren driver’s Instagram in February 2022, with Oscar sharing a photo of the pair attending the 2022 Autosport Awards.
As Oscar progressed through the ranks in Formula 3 and Formula 2, his relationship with Lily was still private, with the couple making their debut in the F1 paddock during Oscar’s time as a reserve driver for Alpine at the 2022 Melbourne Grand Prix.
At the beginning of the 2023 Formula 1 season, fans first captured a glimpse of the couple during a promotional video for the 2023 Melbourne Grand Prix, with the Australian driver treating his girlfriend to a helicopter tour of his home city.
Throughout the 2023 season, Oscar and Lily have made regular appearances together across the globe, with the couple captured together at the Austrian, British, Italian, and Singapore Grand Prix.
Lily has also been spotted with Oscar outside the paddock, with the couple attending the 2023 Goodwood Ball and Wimbledon Tennis Championships.
With their paddock appearances growing more frequent throughout the latter half of the 2023 season, fans of the couple eagerly awaited their return to the F1 world following the start of the 2024 season.
While new photos of the couple are rare across social media, Oscar took to Instagram following the 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix to share a sweet snap of himself and Lily holding hands as they departed the paddock for the night.
