While we’re heading into winter in Australia, it’s almost summertime at Cousins Beach. Prime Video’s smash success The Summer I Turned Pretty (TSITP) has returned for its second season…
Season 2 of the book-to-screen series was confirmed before Season 1 even hit the streaming platform. This meant filming resumed shortly after the show’s premiere, with the majority of the cast returning to Cousins to continue the whirlwind of a story that is Isabel ‘Belly’ Conklin’s hot girl summer.

So, what can we expect? The story follows the plot of author Jenny Han’s bestselling series of the same title. Acting as the series’ executive producer, she’s also behind the coming-of-age teen sensation To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and the series’ spinoff XO, Kitty.
With Han at the helm, it’s guaranteed the season will deliver everything fans want and more.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 cast
TSITP wouldn’t be the same without its central character, Belly. Having gone through the ever-familiar awkward stage of puberty, the show follows her life as a 16-year-old entering a new, more adult phase of life. 19-year-old actress Lola Tung reprises her breakout role.
Also returning are the objects of Belly’s messy love triangle, Conrad (Chris Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) Fisher. While not written into book two, Cam (David Iacono), more affectionately known as Cam Cameron, also makes a comeback.

Also returning are Steven Conklin (Sean Kaufman), Taylor (Nyna Rain), Nicole (Summer Madison), Laurel Park (Jackie Chung), and Susannah Fisher (Rachel Blanchard).
While (spoiler alert) the character of Susannah is not physically present in book two, she is part of Season 2 in some capacity (she was on set for the entirety of filming).
Shayla Wang (Minnie Mills) will sadly not be returning, as announced on April 20.
A new character will also be joining the mix! Skye (Elsie Fisher) was not present in the books but is said to play an important role in the new season.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2 plot
Season 2 of TSITP, which is based on the book It’s Not Summer Without You, is set to be a scorcher with more adventure, more romance, and more drama. If you don’t want any more book spoilers, skip this next part.
It’s Not Summer Without You follows the characters’ experiences with loss and how this affects their relationships.
Season 1 closed off with Susannah – the Fisher boys’ mum – sharing the news of her cancer diagnosis. This bombshell rounded out the season dramatically.
With Conrad and Belly also uniting at the end of the season, the book picks up a few months later where Susannah has tragically passed.
Switching between present and past tense, the story follows life after Susannah and how this affects their, once magical, summertime escapes to Cousins Beach.
Considering the plot of book one was changed slightly on screen, with the addition of a debutante storyline and characters Shayla and Nicole, we do expect some deviation from this plot, too.
The additions of Skye and Cam to Season 2 will give the story a fresh twist.
Who does Belly end up with Season 2? Conrad or Jeremiah?
Again, spoiler warning…
Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah (Conrad all the way!), Belly does eventually choose one brother…
While, at the end of the books, she ultimately ends up with Conrad, author and executive producer of the series Jenny Han says nothing’s guaranteed.
In It’s Not Summer Without You, Belly and Conrad go through a rough patch, keeping their distance while Conrad is off at Brown University and Belly is dating Jeremiah.
In true TSITP fashion, these relationships are definitely not smooth sailing.
