Whipple procedures, dancing it out, McSteamy and McDreamy… Grey’s Anatomy has been the comforting (and at times stress-inducing, heartbreaking and tense) constant to fans for over 20 years.
For 21 seasons, we’ve watched Meredith and co deal with the trials and tribulations of working in a hospital all while dating co-workers, splitting from co-workers, dealing with an exponentially high number of natural disasters and battling their own fair share of medical emergencies.
And although we may have a different cohort of young and upcoming surgeons running the floors of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital following Ellen Pompeo’s departure as a series regular, the show remains a must-watch for those who have kept up to date with the 400+ episodes.
Now, as the long-running series from Shonda Rhimes is renewed for a 22nd season, we have everything you need to know about Grey’s Anatomy.

Is Grey’s Anatomy finished?
Although Ellen Pompeo officially left the main cast of Grey’s Anatomy in 2023, the show is far from over.
Sure, only a handful of the original cast remain, but that’s the charm of a medical show: there’s endless new medical storylines to uncover and new doctors to join the pit.
As of March 2025, Grey’s is currently airing the second half of season 21, which ended on a mid-season cliff hanger last year. New episodes are now airing weekly on Disney+.
In April 2025, ABC confirmed the show would continue with a 22nd season, so there’s no need to panic about the show coming to an end (yet).

Who is in the cast of Grey’s Anatomy?
