Courtney and Sev may have walked away from The Block with the 2026 crown, but it turns out there was another secret weapon helping them along the way: Courtney’s laugh.

The best friends have had plenty to celebrate after taking out this year’s competition, but their auction win came with one particularly hilarious detail. According to the girls, their new buyer reckons Courtney’s unmistakable laugh helped push them to spend an extra $500,000 on the house.

And honestly, that’s one way to make an impression at auction!

Speaking to WHO less than 24 hours after their win, Courtney and Sev revealed what their buyers told them about the bidding war, and why it was the girls’ hard work and love for the house that ultimately made it stand out.

Courtney’s laugh apparently cost the buyer an extra $500,000

When asked what made the buyers keep bidding so aggressively on House Four, Sev revealed they had given the girls two reasons, one of which had them laughing.

“They said two things,” Sev explained. “They said Courtney’s laugh made them spend about $500,000 more than they should have because they couldn’t hear us wheezing as they were putting the paddles up.”

While Courtney’s laugh might have provided some unexpected auction-room entertainment, the girls said there was a much more heartfelt reason their buyers were so determined to secure the property.

“The biggest takeaway that we got from them was they just said that they could tell that Courtney and I put all our love and energy into each room and that that translated against the other homes and that’s what they were going for,” Sev said.

“That was really nice. I think all the houses are impressive, but they clearly resonated with our style so much so that it drove the price up so high.”

The pair also revealed they had spent time with their buyers in the lead-up to the auction, making the result even more special.

“They came in and watched it with us last night, which was really special,” they said. “And yeah, we all cried together and celebrated.”

The buyers also made sure to tell Courtney and Sev just how much they appreciated the effort they had put into the property.

“And their biggest message to us was, you know, you guys poured your heart and soul into it. You played a really hard competition and that’s what we loved about you guys,” they explained.

The girls are still wrapping their heads around their win

Less than 24 hours after the auction, Courtney and Sev admitted they were still coming to terms with just how much their win would change their lives.

“It’s absolutely life-changing,” Courtney said. “A hundred grand each would have just been insanely life-changing for Sev and I. It would have just, you know, been such a bonus. So, I can’t even fathom what this is going to do for both of us.”

As for what they’ll do with the prize money, Courtney said buying a house was one possibility, while the pair could also explore taking on projects together.

“We just, we haven’t even accepted the fact that we’ve won yet,” she said. “So, we haven’t got that far, but I reckon we’re going to start brainstorming and pour a pinot and go into the next phase.”

After surviving the chaos of The Block together, the best friends aren’t ruling out working together again, either.

“I think we have done one of the hardest things that anyone could ever do. Like, The Block is no small feat and to be able to sort of go into it with a strong friendship and come out even stronger can definitely mean that we could go into business together,” Sev said.

For now, though, they’ll be enjoying the win, the celebrations and, apparently, Courtney’s very expensive laugh.
