Listen, if there’s one show that knows how to keep us on the very edge of our seats, it’s The Traitors.
During Wednesday night’s episode, we saw Alvin Quah get slapped with a brutal betrayal after fellow Traitor Alex Nation voted to give him the boot, despite the two of them sharing an alliance.
But that wasn’t the only moment that got people talking.
AJ Antonios put himself firmly in the spotlight after he managed to identify not one, but two of the show’s secret Traitors before using that information to completely change the course of the game.
Guess his Australian Survivor experience is coming in handy.
It all started when AJ privately told Alvin that he suspected Alex was a Traitor. But when Alex confronted AJ about those suspicions at breakfast, she unintentionally revealed that Alvin had spilled the beans.
If there had been a microphone near AJ’s brain, you would have heard the cogs turning.
He immediately realised that if Alex knew about his conversation with Alvin, they were likely both Traitors.
Instead of exposing Alex, however, AJ pulled her aside and told her he knew exactly what she was hiding.
“I know you’re a Traitor,” he said.
The move placed Alex in an impossible position. To convince AJ that she could be trusted, she decided to go against fellow Traitor Alvin, casting the deciding vote that sent him home.
Viewers were left stunned by the result, with many labelling it the best episode of the season so far.
“AJ is a freaking genius! Amazing gameplay!” one fan wrote.
“ALEX VOTED OUT ALVIN WTF WTF WTF. AJ GOT IN HER HEAD!” added another.
How did AJ work out who the Traitors were?
To those at home, AJ’s success came out of nowhere, but according to Alvin, there has always been a careful strategy behind his gameplay.
Alvin revealed to WHO that AJ had approached him during the first two episodes and claimed he was convinced Alvin was a Faithful.
“AJ has a very interesting way of playing the game,” Alvin explained.
“He would talk to people and say, ‘Oh, I’ve cleared you. You are not a threat.’
“He said that to me in the first two episodes. He goes, ‘I just want to say, I’m sure you’re a Faithful.’”
At the time, Alvin accepted the reassurance. Looking back, however, he believes AJ’s behaviour should have raised alarm bells.
“It should have triggered something in me,” he admitted.
Over the following episodes, Alvin noticed that AJ had stopped approaching him and had instead begun speaking to other contestants.
“What I realised is that for the next four episodes or so, I hadn’t seen him,” Alvin said. “He didn’t come and talk to me. He talked to everyone else.
“What he does is he clears people in round one, and then he starts clearing people again in round two. It’s really, really interesting.”
While AJ may have appeared to give Alvin the all-clear, behind the scenes, the Faithful was reassessing his suspects and waiting for the right moment to make his move.
Alvin admits he is worried about AJ
AJ’s private confrontation with Alex became one of the episode’s most surprising moments.
Instead of accusing her at the Round Table, he told Alex he knew she was a Traitor but was willing to work with her.
“I mean, what would you do if someone said that to you and you had this secret?” Alvin said after watching the exchange.
“I thought, ‘Wow, I want to see how this all unfolds. This is going to be so interesting.’”
The conversation allowed AJ to protect himself while forcing Alex to prove her loyalty by voting against Alvin.
It was a risky move, but it worked.
“My jaw is on the floor!” one viewer wrote on X. “Season 3, episode 6 was mind-blowingly good. The build-up and suspense of AJ nailing it and just making history was excellent TV!”
Another fan jokingly questioned whether AJ had received some outside assistance, asking: “Are the producers feeding AJ the script?”
Alvin, however, believes AJ’s experience on Australian Survivor has made him particularly well-equipped for the psychological game unfolding inside the castle.
“One hundred per cent, I’m worried about AJ because he’s so good,” Alvin told WHO.
“You have to think, these people have done Survivor. You are literally on a show where you have to fight for survival, so you’re kind of prepped for it.
“Their mental game is strong. It’ll be interesting to see where AJ takes this.”
While AJ has decided to keep Alex’s true identity a secret for now, we’ll just have to wait and see whether that carries him further into the competition or creates a target on his back.
