Netflix is introducing a new feature which will see ads pop up during a binge session.
Similar to video ads on YouTube, a short trailer will air at the end of a TV episode or movie which will suggest something else to watch. The video can be skipped after a few seconds.
The streaming giant confirmed the feature in a statement to Ars Technica, which read: “We are testing whether surfacing recommendations between episodes helps members discover stories they will enjoy faster.”
Netflix users have taken to social media to vent their frustrations, with people threatening to cancel their subscriptions:
A main complaint is that paying for a subscription should mean that you don’t have to watch ads, even if it is there to help them discover new shows to binge.
What are your thoughts on the new update?
