Romy Poulier made the shock decision to reject Nick Cummins’ rose on Thursday night and leave The Bachelor mansion for good.
At the time she told the honey badger that she ‘just couldn’t do it’ any more, but it seems that her dad’s declining health may have been the reason she left, even if she didn’t know it at then.
“I didn’t know Dad was sick at the time,” she told Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa. “I had no intentions of leaving the show and at the time I just couldn’t accept the rose blah blah blah. I thought what have I done…”
Romy says that when she got home she caught up with both her parents because she didn’t have the chance to speak to them during the show, then something horrible happened to her dad.
“The next morning my Dad had a stroke,” she revealed. “He was stroking for 9 hours through the night on his own.
“He is quite brain damaged now he has lost the capacity to communicate now. I wouldn’t have been able to say good bye to him. I had one last conversation with Dad. It all made sense after that.”
