The Block 2018 teams have completed their first challenge, with Sara and Hayden taking out the win.
With the highest score of 25.5/30, the construction manager and stay-at-home mum were given first pick of the Gatwick’s five apartments.
The couple decided not to take one of the penthouses and went for apartment number 3 because of the concrete ceiling and ‘acoustics’.
Experienced renovators Kerrie and Spence came in second with 24.5/30 and chose apartment 1, the hardest to sell, because of the all important safe.
With the top two revealed, the two penthouses were still up for grabs.
Netball champions Bianca and Carla scored 22/30 and chose the north-facing penthouse AKA apartment 5. “We seemed to do a Steven Bradbury, stumbled over the line and ended up with a penthouse.”
In fourth place with a score of 20 were a very excited Norm and Jess who decided to take the other penthouse, apartment 4.
Courtney and Hans were then left with apartment 2, the biggest apartment on The Block.
Because Sara and Hayden won the challenge, their prize included having the money they spent on the kids room put back in their budget, a huge $10,776. But, they had until the next morning to choose which one of their neighbours they would take the money from.
In the meantime, Kerrie and Spence discovered the amazing contents of the safe which included $150,000 worth of vouchers and a one point gnome.
They have also been given the chance to present their masterplan to judges Neale Whitaker, Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer for feedback and advice.
Playing nice with their neighbours, the richest couple on The Block revealed their winnings to Sara and Hayden and told them to take the money from their budget.
The teams now have a week to work on their main bathroom, the first official room reveal.
