The Voice host Darren McMullen has snapped back at Delta Goodrem fans for ‘insensitive’ comments on the singer’s Instagram page.

Like many celebrities here and around the world, Delta Goodrem shared a black tile to her Instagram in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, simply sharing the hashtag “The Show Must Be Paused.”

Despite the growing movement and push for people worldwide to educate themselves on white privilege and racial injustice, some people are missing the intended message.

And, it’s causing some very heated debates online.

One comment in particular on Delta’s post, has sparked outrage; particularly from her The Voice co-star Darren.

“Don’t agree with the signs “Black lives matter” should be “All lives matter”, one user wrote.

Darren responded to this argument, which has been used by many who don’t understand the point of the movement.

“That makes as much sense as saying I don’t agree with dog rescue because cats need to be rescued too. Or “Save the children” is a terrible charity because adults need saving as well.

Nobody is insinuating all lives don’t matter when they use that hashtag. But that’s not what needs our attention right now.

Our black brothers and sisters are saying this is a problem and we have to trust them and believe it is.”

In response to Darren’s poignant comment, the user wrote: “ how can you have black brothers and sisters…. you’re white.”

Clearly the point was missed and Darren swiftly shut down the conversation: “ That’s your takeaway from what I just said? Probably not going to justify that with an answer.”

The overwhelming response from fans supported Darren and his comments. But, as to be expected there was the occasional “all lives matter” response, too.

As for Delta, the singer and Voice coach hasn’t responded to any of the comments, yet.
