MasterChef Australia has served a banquet of good food, good people, and good feelings ever since it first debuted here in 2009 with its Hot n Cold theme tune by Katy Perry.
And, with the next season ordered and cooking while we wait, fans are left asking the age-old MasterChef behind the scenes question: where is the beloved cooking show filmed? Keep reading to find out.
Where is MasterChef filmed?
While the hit cooking reality TV show may be screened into homes across the country, it’s actually filmed in warehouses a short walk away from culinary delights in Australia’s two biggest cities.
Masterchef Australia and Masterchef Junior Australia are filmed in Sydney and Melbourne. Well, depending on what season, that is.

While the show loves to get their amateur chefs to cook in a variety of off-site locations – from Cronulla Beach to Kings Cross and former host George Calombaris’s restaurant, The Press Club – the first four seasons of MasterChef Australia were filmed in the inner-city suburbs of Sydney.
According to Find That Location, before the show reached a Top 20, it originally filmed at the Australian Technology Park in Redfern, Sydney. Then, when the show cut down its chef to 20, they would move to a studio on Doody Street in Alexandria.
From season five and onwards, the show shifted gears and moved to the food and culture capital of Australia, Melbourne. Specifically, they carved a place for themselves at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds in Flemington, VIC.
MasterChef Australia returns later this year.
