Gibney, 53, has spent a lifetime in front of the camera and she shares with WHO the products that have helped her to feel confident and comfortable in the skin she’s in.
“I’m 53 years old and proud of it. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to go and have regular facials. I have eyelash tints, hair colour, all that stuff, I try and keep fit. But at the end of the day, what I’m trying to embrace is that I am 53 and I have got lines and I have got rolls and that’s okay. And I am going to eat that chocolate and I am going to have that glass of wine…” says Gibney.
Gibney was a self-confessed “product queen” when it came to skincare, that is until her friend, Ellie, introduced her to Australian organic brand, Vanessa Megan. After starting to look into the ingredients in her skincare products, Gibney was shocked to find what she was using on her skin. “What I found out is that the number one form of aging is mineral oil and paraffin. And if you look at pretty much every big brand product, they’ve all got it in there, and that’s a by-product of petrol. Not so good for the skin,” says Gibney. Gibney immediately adopted Vanessa Megan’s mantra on beauty, “don’t put anything on your skin that you wouldn’t eat!”
“I got her range and it’s really simple. It’s a scrub cleanser with a muslin cloth and a spray of rose water and I put on some oil and that’s it,” says Gibney, who also tries to exfoliate and use a mask once a week.
“I feel glowy, it makes me feel really youthful, it’s really quick, it’s inexpensive and it’s supporting an Australian brand…AND…they’re not paying me to say it either! I can actually say it freely because I really like the product and I love her philosophy,” says Gibney.
