We assume that fame status equates to high-maintenance upkeep. That when celebrities get married, their aspirational looks are unattainable for us normal folk, and often, they are.
So, our excitement was at a fever pitch when we found out that actress Lea Michele used a $9 mascara for her wedding day beauty.
Michele wed partner Zandy Reich over the weekend and complimented her custom-made Monique Lhuillier gown with a soft and delicate makeup look.
The lauded mascara with the humble price tag used by Lea’s makeup artist Meredith Baraf is none other than the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Butterfly mascara (the waterproof version). The Allure.com-approved mascara “promises to extend and lift the outer corner of your lashes to create a “winged-out effect” thanks to a combination of an asymmetrical brush and what the brand calls “cocoon fibers” that softly wrap lashes.”

Baraf also used individual false lashes by brand Kiss on the bride as well as the Surratt Beauty Auto-Graphique Eyeliner.
Affordable, cult makeup favourites are having a resurgence thanks to celebrities and influencers who are embracing and promoting our beloved drugstore finds.
And as we are nearing the end of the financial year, we are delighted that they are doing so!
