Every morning, as I stand in the change room of my gym getting ready for the work day, I have one thing on my mind. Not the workout I just did. Not the faulty hairdryers. But nailing an effortlessly blurred, signature lip that only Nina Park can seem to master.
If you’re a beauty lover who’s been on the internet lately, there’s a good chance your feed has also been flooded with Nina Park makeup looks.
The celebrity makeup artist has taken over the faces of Hollywood — and rightly so. Her stunning looks effortlessly complement the faces she’s painting: Emma Stone, Mia Goth, Jessie Buckley and Sadie Sink, just to name a few.
The best Nina Park makeup products
- Best lip product: DIOR Rouge Dior Contour in 303 Greige Attitude, $51
- Best eye product: CHANEL Le Crayon Yeux Eye Definer in Brun Teak, $52
- Best complexion product: DIOR Backstage Rosy Glow Stick in 077 Candy, $79
What sets Park’s makeup style apart is her slightly overlined, signature lip. It’s soft, subtle, and a technique nearly everyone I know is trying to recreate.
Other celebrity makeup artists including Katie Jane Hughes and Melissa Murdick have posted videos with their take – often nailing the looks in their own way. Still, it’s hard to deny that Park’s work is unmistakably her own.
So how does she do it? While Park regularly shares her finished looks on Instagram, the techniques and subtle tricks behind them remain quietly under wraps. The good news is that she does offer glimpses into the products she reaches for on her clients — which, for beauty obsessives, is more than enough to get started.
In my long-sought quest to nail Park’s signature look, I’ve done the snooping for you — working out exactly which products you’ll need (technique aside) to recreate your own Nina Park-inspired makeup moment.
Nina Park lip products
Park’s signature lip is softly blurred with a subtle overline. To achieve it, she appears to lightly contour around the mouth using a cool-toned bronzer or contour. However, in many of her Instagram posts, the makeup artist credits Dior Rouge Dior Contour in 303 Greige Attitude for creating her iconic lip looks.
Park has also collaborated with Korean beauty brands Clio and Romand, and has shared clips of herself using lip tints from both. While there are no doubt a few tricks she’s still keeping up her sleeve, these products are the perfect place to start for achieving that perfectly blurred pout.
Nina Park eye products
Nina Park’s eye looks are soft and subtle, designed to enhance — rather than overpower — her clients’ natural eye shapes. A gentle tightline, a wash of colour across the lid and a barely-there wing are her go-to techniques. She often reaches for Chanel and Dior products, layering matte and shimmer shades and finishing with generous mascara to make the eyes stand out.
Nina Park complexion products
With her Korean heritage, it’s no surprise that Park draws inspiration from K-beauty, keeping the complexion simple, fresh and glowing. For Jessie Buckley’s recent Golden Globes appearance, Park used Chanel complexion products to create a natural base, and often layers easy-to-blend cream formulas — like the Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Stick in 077 Candy — for a luminous flush of colour.
Nina Park is a Korean-American makeup artist who has gained significant prominence online for her instantly recognisable makeup looks on celebrity clientele. Based in New York City, her work is seen on clients across the globe. According to Park, her ethos is simple: “drawing inspiration from the natural structures and shadows of the face, and enhancing features rather than concealing them.”
Park has some of the most in-demand clients in the industry on her roster, including Mia Goth, Margaret Qualley, Emma Stone, Zoë Kravitz, Jung Ho-yeon and Sadie Sink, to name a few. Her signature makeup looks have also been seen on Hailey Bieber, Jessie Buckley, Lily-Rose Depp and Laufey.
