Party season is here and it’s time to up your glamour level. Maybe you read that and felt a ripple of excitement – because you planned this moment months ago!
Or, perhaps, a sense of dread because oh heck – how to look party sensational when you have zero time and even less enthusiasm …
Either way you’re going to love these very sweet beauty tricks that will ensure you’re the belle of the ball. And very speedily too!
First of all, there’s no need to remove your regular day makeup if you’re in a deadset rush. Simply have a good long look at yourself in the mirror and see if you need a touch-up. Pay close attention to the areas under the eyes, around the nose, the outside corners of the mouth and the chin.
If needed, dab a touch of creamy, yellow-based (it suits all) concealer into these areas and blend with the pad of a finger.
Next, lashes. If you have the energy it’s best to remove any mascara from the day. Use a ready-designed eye makeup remover wipe so that you don’t accidentally remove anything else! Next, curl lashes with an eyelash curler. Sounds a little extra but it is so worth the effort. Promise. Clamp the curler at the very base of lashes once, the middle of lashes once and then as close to the tips as you can get.
Now mascara and lots of it. I recommend three coats – but allow each coat 30 seconds to dry somewhat. The easiest way to do that is to apply a coat to the left eye then move on to the right. By the time you’re done with the right – the left will be ready and so on.
If you have a teeny bit of extra time, nothing will add party oomph like a faux lash or three glued to the outer corners of the eyes. Pretty!
Finally, one killer lip shade. Right now we’re mad for a semi-matte finish – that is a creamy lip colour that’s mainly matte, but has a touch of richness to it so it never gets dry or appears flat. It’s a party right … so now is the time to step it up, maybe even take a beauty risk or two.
On that, I say, try a bright shade of fuchsia, a true fire-engine red or, the strongest candy pink you can get your little hands on. I promise you one of these three options will suit you beautifully and also, that you will look so incredibly sensational that you’ll never hear the end of it.
Now that’s what we call a party.
