As if someone known as The Body has time for people who criticise the way she looks!
Elle Macpherson has been named the ambassador for Bonds’ new Bases Flex underwear campaign, telling WHO, “The campaign and my values felt very aligned. It’s quintessentially Aussie, it supports people in their natural self, their real self, and it also promotes inner beauty, confidence and sense of humour, which is so important today.”
While Elle is all about promoting inner beauty, her appointment as the latest Bonds ambassador has brought out the ugly side of online trolls who don’t think the 61-year-old supermodel was the right choice.
However, the Aussie model has responded to those ageist comments with grace.
‘I don’t take things personally’
“I do think what other people think of me is none of my business,” Elle told Today hosts Karl Stefanovic and Jayne Azzopardi.
“I don’t take things personally and it’s a great exercise when you do something like this that you look inside and you listen to your own guidance and your own inner sense and not make decisions based on external authority.
“True beauty is being 100 per cent you, exactly authentically you – however you wish to express yourself at that time, without any ifs, buts or maybes or outside approval, it’s just shining that bright light and that essence that you naturally and uniquely are in this world and that’s when we are at our most beautiful, so focus inward, be you and don’t worry about anything else.”

Elle’s battles with confidence
Even though she’s one of the world’s top models, that doesn’t mean Elle has always felt confident when it comes to her looks.
Speaking to WHO, Elle admitted that a lack of confidence has “robbed” her of enjoying some of the most pinnacle moments in her career.
“I wanted to do a really good job and I didn’t have a lot of experience and I just felt very uncomfortable along the way. My lack of confidence meant that it sort of robbed me of the joy… I think my own lack of confidence was used against me.”
