The 27-year-old is the author of The Why, a book dedicated to creating “healthy habits for an epic life.” She also regularly uses her platform to offer advice to her 200k+ audience of Instagram followers.
Now partnered with WITHINGS, a tech company creating devices and apps designed to improve daily wellbeing and long-term health, Isabelle chats to WHO about her health and fitness routine.
What is your personal philosophy on health and wellness?
Authenticity, love and growth are the fundamental values I live my life by. I like to integrate these ways of living into my relationship with health and wellness. Authenticity represents tuning into my unique needs when it comes to diet and movement. I always make it a priority to tune into my body wisdom to get clarity on what helps me to feel my best. Love stands for always prioritising a kind and loving connection to myself, by using compassion and practising meditation.
Growth is important for understanding that as I grow and evolve so can my relationship with health and wellness, I may need to do more self-healing or to switch up my exercise routine to reflect my current phase of life. That’s why I chose to partner with WITHINGS – they believe in making real change to health and wellness for the long term.
Small, everyday moments like taking 1-5min to do some kind of meditation or mindfulness like focusing on your breathing or finding little ways to get some extra steps in throughout the day or even just prioritising your sleep all add up to make bigger change for the good!
You take a “holistic” approach to your healthy lifestyle, how would you describe that?
Prioritising healthy habits every day to help me stay in balance. Constantly tuning in to my internal wisdom, moving and eating in an intuitive loving way and staying connected to the earth, nature and a community
What is the most important aspect of having a “healthy routine” for you?
Flexibility, having routines that positively impact your health and lifestyle but still enable you to travel, try new things and switch it up. Enjoyment is also key and can help our routines and habits to last in the long term. Connection to your WHY: Connecting to the WHY behind your routines and habits can develop purpose and intrinsic motivation. If you understand WHY you are doing these practices, they can become effortless.
What are your favourite ways to stay fit?
I love moving outdoors, surfing, running, and cycling. I will also usually do some home strength training and yoga each week. With my ScanWatch, I can also monitor my performance for the various activities I do. All the data is then automatically synced to the Health Mate app, which allows me to see my progress. I have recently recovered from an injury, so it’s been really motivating to see how my strength and agility is developing again.
How have you incorporated smart technology into your own wellness?
I love timing my tasks and habits each day. I set goals for daily reading, movement and meditation. I use my WITHINGS ScanWatch to time my tasks and record my workouts. [It] has the ability to track parameters such as steps, elevation and workout routes as well as features Breathe Mode which guides you to focus on your breathing for one to five minutes, allowing you to refocus, relax and help take care of your mind, and thus, your body.
Sleep is also so important for your health, so I do prioritise getting a really good night’s rest. WITHINGS has the Sleep Analyzer which you pop under your mattress and essentially, set and forget. It monitors your sleep based on your sleeping patterns, heart rate and disturbances (like snoring), and you can even control your environment with it too – from turning off the lights to turning up the heating when you get out of bed.
Do you have any tips for how people can use fitness devices to better their lifestyle?
I would suggest using a fitness device to help you stay on track with your productivity and time. I love setting aside time for my goals, so I can slowly see them come to fruition. The wonderful thing about fitness trackers is that it’s all about the user – you set a goal, and then have access to results instantly which allows you to trace your activity and see real progress, motivating you to achieve said goal. WITHINGS create medical grade health devices, which are tested and clinically validated so that users can make real change for the long term. I really believe it’s all about making small incremental changes to your everyday that will make the biggest impact!
