WHO caught up with Matt Bomer, 38, at the Cannes Film Festival, where he revealed that he bonded with his The Nice Guys costar Ryan Gosling (dad to daughters Amada Lee, 2 weeks, and Esmeralda Amada, 20 months) about the difficulties of working while raising young kids.

“Ryan and I sought solace in each other regularly. When we started this movie he had a baby — he just had a baby,” Bomer said. “It’s a tricky balancing act.”

The actor said that by working he’s doing his best to set a good example for his three sons, twins Walker and Henry, 7, and Kit, 10, in showing them that they can achieve their goals — even if that means making films they can’t yet watch.

“I tend toward more adult fare and I would love to do a voice in an animated film or something the boys could go see, but at a certain point I made peace with myself about it,” he said. “I guess they’d rather have a parent who really pursued his dreams and what he was passionate about.”

But Bomer said he’s willing to make sacrifices in his career to spend time with his family.

“At the end of the day they are my first priority,” he added.
