WHO Reader Melissa Timmers lost 38kgs

“My lowest point was when my 4-year-old son told me I was fat.”

Before becoming a mum, Melissa Timmers, 29, from Wadalba, NSW, weighed around 72kg, so when she decided it was time to get back in shape, that was her goal.

“It was an achievable goal for me but never did I think I would get past that and look the best I have ever been.”

Timmers had grown up in the fashion industry and, lacking confidence and constantly second- guessing herself, had always been on fad diets.

“I’ve always tried to fit in with these amazing girls that look incredible.”

Before signing up to The Healthy Mummy, Timmers wasn’t very active. “I have had gym memberships on and off for years but never found something that I could connect with and understand completely. Healthy Mummy took me under their wing and I wasn’t just another number, I felt like I was making a difference and they actually cared.”

After achieving her original target, Timmers hit a plateau.

“When I reached 72kg, I slacked off a little as it was my original goal and I had never been below that weight. I maintained that weight for a good six months. I was still training and eating the meals so I was happy.” But hearing that she’d been picked for The Health Mummy swimwear shoot re-lit her fire.

“I realised I hadn’t come this far to only come this far. I wanted to see what my body was capable of and I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone. I dropped to 69kg, which was a win for me, I had never looked better and felt better!”

The care and support from The Healthy Mummy community combined with the amazing meals and exercise plans have enabled Timmers to lose 38kg and keep it off.

“I now have the knowledge that exercise and eating healthy isn’t all about being skinny. I don’t want to be skinny, I want to be fit and strong. I have finally fallen in love with my body and my curves.”
