After major label drama with Simon Cowell, the girls have gone and delivered yet another exceptional album of sure-fire hits.
Jade, Perrie, Jesy and Leigh-Anne are grown and more empowered than ever since last LP effort Glory Days.
This time around they have taken aim at gender inequality by challenging just what it means to be a woman in this day and age.
From the get-go with first single “Woman Like Me” it was made clear that their fifth studio album would be all about feminism and challenging the status quo.
One of the most direct songs that highlight such topics is “Woman’s World”. Their overt comments on the gender pay gap are delivered so with such delicacy and passion.
While there is serious subject matter at hand the girls manage to have fun and serve fans with their usual bubble-gum pop with dance bangers “Wasabi”, “Joan of Arc” and the Vogue-esque confidence anthem “Strip”.
But where the album really shines is the girls more emotional tracks like the stunning “More Than Words” and “The Cure”. It allows the British gal group to really showcase just how powerful their voices are.
Must-listen tracks: The Cure, Woman Like Me, Think About Us, Joan of Arc, Wasabi, More Than Words, Woman’s World.
Verdict: LM5 is empowering, thumping and full of bops. You won’t have it off repeat for weeks!
