Season 41 of the survival show was set to start filming in the Mamanuca Islands in Fiji on March 24, however producers have been forced to delay filming for a couple of months due to COVID-19.

‘Due to concerns and uncertainty surrounding the spread of COVID-19 globally, CBS and the producers of Survivor have taken the precautionary measure to delay production on the 41st season, which was set to begin filming later this month in Fiji. Pending worldwide events, the plan is to return to production on May 19th. The health and safety of the castaways and production members is our top priority,’ read a statement.

Season 41 is currently set to premiere in September, while season 42 would have begun filming in May for a premiere in February 2021.

Meanwhile, Channel 10 producers of the Amazing Race Australia have confirmed that contestants will be exploring Australia, rather than filming overseas, due to health concerns over COVID-19.

The upcoming season is due to begin filming in June.

‘Due to the current cautions around international travel due to the COVID-19 outbreak, a domestic route has proven the safest option for the upcoming season,’ a Network 10 spokesperson told TV tonight.

They added: ‘The welfare of cast and crew is of the upmost importance and all necessary measures will be taken to ensure their protection.’

Network 10 remained confident Australia’s ‘tropical rainforests, [the] arid red desert of the outback and cool mountainous hinterlands’ would still provide an entertaining backdrop for the show.

Amazing Race Australia host Beau Ryan told the Kyle and Jackie O Show last week production had only planned to remain in Australia if they had no other options.

‘Well in all honesty, if worst comes to worst we’re doing an Australian one,’ Beau said.

The current American season of Amazing Race has also been forced to pause production due to the outbreak.
