The 18-year-old singer – who admits she made a conscious decision early on in her career to wear baggy clothes to avoid being sexualised – preciously spoke out in a Calvin Klein campaign about being judged on her appearance.
“Nobody can have an opinion because they haven’t seen what’s underneath,” the Bad Guy singer said.
“Nobody can be like, ‘she’s slim-thick,’ ‘she’s not slim-thick,’ ‘she’s got a flat ass’ ‘she’s got a fat ass.’
“No one can say any of that because they don’t know.”
Speaking to Dazed magazine recently, Eilish explained how at the beginning of the year she had shared some pictures of herself to Instagram from a trip to Hawaii – including a couple of images in which she was wearing a swimsuit.
“I saw comments like, ‘How dare she talk about not wanting to be sexualised and wear this?!'” she said.
The swimsuit photos in question are hidden amongst several other pictures and videos from the trip in the above Instagram gallery.
“There were comments like, ‘I don’t like her anymore because as soon as she turns 18 she’s a whore. Like, dude. I can’t win.’
Eilish said the comments on social media had a negative impact on the way she viewed hew own body, adding that there were times she “didn’t recognise” her own body.
