According to Daily Mail Australia, 10 of this season’s participants have had previous experience on TV, modelling or performing on stage.
Cathy Evans
Her MAFS bio says she’s a ‘logistics investigator,’ but Cathy actually graduated from Unitec Institute of Technology in Auckland with a degree in performing arts and moved to Sydney to launch an acting career.
‘These are the best acting headshots ever. Time to take over Australia,’ she wrote on Instagram in August 2015, after having professional photos taken for her portfolio.
Mikey Pembroke
This isn’t Mikey’s first TV gig.
The 29-year-old made his acting debut in Friday on My Mind, an ABC miniseries about Australian rock band The Easybeats, in which he played a background character.
He also appeared on Deal or No Deal in 2015.
Vanessa Romito
The pharmacy manager filmed a project with GrindFilms in February 2019.
In one scene, Vanessa plays a character at a party with several other women.
Amanda Micallef
MAFS’s first lesbian bride has a StarNow profile, advertising herself as an ‘actor, extra, model and TV/radio presenter’ looking for work.
She also briefly appeared as an extra in the 2009 film Knowing, starring Nicolas Cage.
Other cast members that have been exposed as professional actors include intruder Sebastian Guilhais, who admitted to Adelaide Now that he’d love to get into acting; Josh Pihlak, who writes and performs his own comedy skits; Steve Burley, who previously appeared on Channel Seven’s First Dates and Aleksandra Markovic who was a contestant on Take Me Out.
