There’s no doubt, Kim Kardashian is a great mum. Fans have watched the SKIMS founder and mother of four go to great lengths for her children over the years as she balances fame, her divorce from Kanye West and keeping her children her number one priority.
Although the 42-year-old doesn’t shy away from gifting her kids extravagant presents, she recently shared a sweet birthday tradition she has upheld for North, 9, Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 4.
“Every year I write each one of my kids about a four or five-page letter on their birthday, about what the year was like, who their friends are, silly words they’re saying, their favourite foods, all the silly things they do and a little journey of what the year is like,” Kim revealed in the latest episode of the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast.
“It’s so fun to see from the first year now,” she continued, “one of them is almost 10 years old. And I know that they’ll appreciate this.”
During the interview, Kim also touched on the realities of raising four children and the mix of good and bad days – especially as she and ex-husband Kanye West navigate co-parenting.
“Everyone says the days are long and the years are short, and that couldn’t be like a more true statement,” she explained. “When you’re in it, I mean, especially when they’re babies and you’re feeding, there’s madness going on. It’s like full madness. It’s the best chaos though.”
Despite building her own business empire, pursuing a legal career and successfully taking on both the entertainment and fashion world, Kim admitted that “parenting is the thing that has taught me the most about myself.”
“It has been the most challenging thing,” she continued during the podcast. “There are nights I cry myself to sleep. Like, holy s**t, this f**king tornado in my house. Like, what just happened?”‘
“It is the most rewarding job in the entire world. It is,” she added. “There is nothing that can prepare you…[but] You will figure it out, and it will make you so proud of yourself that you figured it out, and that you got through the day.”
