She and Scott Disick, Kourtney Kardashian’s former partner, are being sued for $40 million USD ($60 million AUD) for promoting a luxury giveaway that some entrants are claiming was a scam set up to sell their personal information.

The reality TV stars promoted the competition back in 2020, offering followers the chance to win everything from first-class plane tickets, to a three-night stay in Beverly Hills, California and $150,000 cash to spend there.

But now people who participated in the contests and didn’t win are suing the Kim and Scott for allegedly using the “scam” lottery to sell their personal information to advertisers.

The plaintiffs behind the suit allege that when the contest “winners” were announced, their Instagram pages were quickly made private.

It made the plaintiffs doubtful that the contest was legitimate and their concerns grew after some entrants began allegedly being contacted by advertisers.

The lawsuit claims people who entered the lottery have since been “invaded by hundreds of advertisers, some of which are soliciting the Plaintiffs with potentially offensive and unwanted content.”

According to reports, the lottery was organised by Scott and promoted by a number of famous friends, most notably Kim and her sisters Kourtney, Khloe Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner.

Other big names including Kris Jenner and Scott’s then-girlfriend, Sofia Richie, have also been accused of promoting the alleged scam.

Scott and Kim are the only ones named in the suit, according to TMZ, with the plaintiffs allegedly seeking $20 millions USD (approx. $30 million AUD) from each.

But Australian company Curated Businesses, which organised the contest Kim and Scott promoted, has denied the claims. It insisted to TMS everything was above board and that it has proof of legitimate winners.

Its website also states that the company uses “the services of a third party facilitator to conduct a random draw” to select contest winners.

“They are Australian government approved and compliant. As required by Australian law, we also engage the services of (a) fully qualified independent scrutineer to oversee the random draw.”

The Kardashian-Jenner clan continue to work with the company on similar lotteries.

Other celebrities have also promoted contests with the company, including local Married At First Sight stars Jules Robinson and Cam Merchant.

Curated Businesses has denied all the allegations. There is no evidence to suggest any of the other lotteries the business run are scams.
