The partner of the Lindt siege gunman, Man Haron Monis, has been jailed for at least 33 years.

Amirah Droudis, 37, was convicted last year of the stabbing murder of Monis’s former wife.

Monis planned the murder and lured his ex-wife, who cannot be named for legal reasons, to his rented apartment in western Sydney in 2013. In the apartment stairwell, Droudis stabbed her 18 times. Her body was then doused in petrol and set alight.

The body “lit up straight away, as well as the wall,” said a witness, who saw the murder through his peephole in a neighbouring apartment. “There was blood everywhere on the body and on the wall.”

Monis was charged with being an accessory to murder, but the 50 year old was shot dead in the Lindt café siege in 2014.

Justice Peter Johnson said Droudis was “enthralled” by Monis: “The evidence indicates that the accused was at the closest and most intense level of her relationship with Monis at that time.”
