While Delta Goodrem has spent most of her life in the public eye – Predictable? Innocent Eyes? Mistaken Identity? All iconic bops – she has kept her love life relatively quiet over the years. That’s why when Australia’s sweetheart and her longtime partner Matthew Copley tied the knot in June 2025, the internet couldn’t get enough.
Now as the singer-songwriter is set to perform in the 2026 Eurovision Grand Final, people are becoming more curious about her husband, particularly given how little he is in spotlight (minus the occasional Instagram sing-along on Delta’s account).
Coming up onto around 9 years for their relationship, these two lovebirds have the meet-cute of every musicians dreams, with their dedication to each other and their music’s artistry being the secret to their success.
How did Delta and Matthew meet?
The two met through music!
Delta – who understandably keeps her private life, well, private – hasn’t shared exactly how she met Matthew but she did tell The Australian Women’s Weekly in 2023 that Matthew is her “guitarist” and the pair “met through music.”
“He’s my guitarist, I met him through music. It’s incredible to be on stage with him because he’s so talented,” she told the publication. “We really are a team. He’s my best friend, he’s kind and just a beautiful human being. But I learnt quite young that I enjoy keeping part of that private.”
“I’ve always been so understanding that I’ve lived in the public eye since I was a teenager, but also I think it’s nice to keep some things to yourself.”
Two things: respect to Delta for setting boundaries, and who else’s heart is melting?!
Delta and Matthew started dating in 2017 but didn’t go public with their relationship until 2018.
In September 2023, Matthew popped the question and Delta obviously said yes!
And then, the two got married on June 16, 2025 at the historic St. Paul’s Cathedral in Mdina, Malta; the lavish reception was held at the opulent Palazzo Parisio.
What does Matthew Copley do for a living?
Matthew Copley is a musician, songwriter, producer, and Vice President of ATLED RECORDS – the label Delta established in 2023 after departing from her long-time label, Sony Music.
He was previously in Sons of Midnight with Conrad Sewell.
The band released their first and only album – self-titled Sons of Midnight – in 2012, and toured as the opening act for both Simple Plan and Avril Lavigne.
Matthew now primarily works as Delta’s guitarist and the two perform together regularly; which is so, so sweet!
The pair, while still remaining quite private about their relationship, often share intimate videos of them performing together on social media, making fans absolutely gush!
