According to The Sun, an unnamed friend of the former Suits actress says that Meghan and Harry’s decision to divide their time between the UK and North America stems from feeling “not central to the future plans” of the Royal Family.

The Sussex’s feeling of isolation was further exacerbated after Buckingham Palace released a telling photo which centred around Prince Charles and Prince William – a move that left Meghan and Harry feeling sidelined.

“They are back to work. They have nothing to hide and have got so much good work to do,” the insider told The Sun.

“It is true that Harry and Meghan will spend a fair amount of time in Canada over the next couple of months and possibly going forward too,” revealed the friend.

“They very much enjoyed their time over Christmas and New Year where they weren’t pictured once and were left alone.”

In a shocking statement issued on their Instagram account on Wednesday evening, Meghan and Harry— who’ve been estranged from the royal family for some time now— confirmed they were taking a “step back” from their royal duties, with plans to split their time between the United Kingdom and Canada.

“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the royal family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to support Her Majesty The Queen,” they announced.

“It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment.”

“We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages. This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.”

The statement continued: “We look forward to sharing the full details of this exciting next step in due course, as we continue to collaborate with Her Majesty The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and all relevant parties. Until then, please accept our deepest thanks for your continued support.”
