WATCH the moment Princess Eugenie got told off by the Queen:
A 2009 report from the UK’s Daily Telegraph details how the then 19-year-old royal was rescued by two of her bodyguards after a gang of robbers attempted to attack her whilst she was travelling through Cambodia on her gap year.
According to the publication, Eugenie, now 29, and two friends were walking through Phnom Penh, the country’s capital, at night time when a thieve tried to grab one of the girls’ bags.
Unaware that they were attempting to rob member of royalty and that her bodyguards were near by, the thief got a shock when two of Eugenie’s protection officers from Scotland Yard’s elite SO14 protection squad wrestled him.
However, when the men started pelting the group with rocks, the bodyguards made the decision to focus on Eugenie’s safety and promptly whisked the princess and her friends away.
“They feared the incident was escalating out of control and took the decision to focus on the safety of their principal,” a source told The Sun at the time.
Thankfully, Eugenie remained unharmed.
