Sarah Jessica Parker has revealed the answer to a Sex and the City mystery that has had fans baffled for over a decade.
WATCH Sarah Jessica Parker tease a Sex and the City return – so exciting!
Earlier this week the Instagram account Every Outfit on Sex & the City posted a picture from season three, episode 13, in which SJP’s character, Carrie Bradshaw can be seen walking alongside Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) and Samantha (Kim Cattrall) wearing mismatched Christian Louboutin heels.
“THE MYSTERY OF THE MISMATCHED LOUBS,” the fan account captioned the iconic image from the HBO series.
“Did Carrie buy these mismatched sandals straight off the rack? Or did she purchase two separate pairs and mix them together herself? Are they a metaphor for her inability to choose between Aidan and Big? Unfortunately, we have no answers. But, we do maintain that this is one of her most compelling footwear moments on the series.”
And incredibly, Sarah wrote a response to the question!
“Here is the official answer and I’m sure approved by the great and legendary @patriciafield,” the 54-year-old wrote in reference to the show’s stylist.
“We had two pairs of what I believe are @louboutinworld scrappy sandals. Pat and I chose to do one of each. Perhaps because both were so delicious in color and seemed in harmony with the dress but also because we simply loved doing one of each. Sending my best. And hope this is a satisfactory answer. Xxx.”
Field also weighed in on the now-solved mystery.
“@sarahjessicaparker and I decided to use one of each because we could not decide which one was best and they were both perfect with the dress. I see you guys have a microscopic view of everything #SATC and I’m happy for it. – Patricia Field.”
While it may have been 15 years since fans waved goodbye to Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte, (played by Kristin Davis) a follow-up series is reported to be in the works.
It was revealed earlier this year that Paramount Television and Anonymous Content are in the process of developing SATC author, Candace Bushnell’s book, Is There Still Sex in the City?, into a TV series.
