Tracey Jewel: I blame MAFS for my devastating diagnosis

The star speaks exclusively to WHO about her heartbreaking news

Back at home and living with her parents in Perth, former Married at First Sight star Tracey Jewel reveals she’s still undergoing therapy after her stint in a mental-health clinic.

‘I was at the clinic for two-and-a-half weeks,’ Jewel reveals to WHO. ‘I’m now a day patient going through a cognitive behaviour therapy program to help with my agoraphobia and my anxiety.’

After returning home from her public break-up with boyfriend Patrick Kedemos while on a European getaway, Jewel exclusively told WHO last month that she overdosed while alone in a hotel room.

Now, the 35-year-old explains that she’s since been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). ‘These things aren’t fixed overnight,’ Jewel says. ‘It takes time with psychotherapy, but I feel like I have a plan now and I’ve got really good support.’

When discussing what caused her mental health to spiral, the author tells WHO ‘everything stems back down to being on the show. If I was offered support back when the show was airing, maybe things wouldn’t have spiralled so far out of control, if I was given a support network early on.’

An Endemol Shine spokesperson said, ‘We are not aware of any diagnosis however we take our duty of care extremely seriously. Throughout production and during broadcast of Married At First Sight, psychological support is fully available to all participants at any time. Once the show concludes on air our production remains in contact with participants and psychological support is available to them if needed’.
