Our first look at the ninth film from director Quentin Tarantino is here with the release of the teaser trailer for Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood (watch the trailer below).
Starring Leonardo DiCaprio as fading actor Rick Dalton, the former star of a Western TV show, and Brad Pitt as his stunt double, Cliff Booth, the film is set in 1969, with the two men trying to break into the film industry.
Other plot details are scarce, as you’d expect from a Tarantino movie, but several real-life figures are depicted, including Sharon Tate (portrayed by Margot Robbie), an up-and-coming actress who was murdered in 1969 by members of a cult run by Charles Manson, played by fellow Australian Damon Herriman.
The trailer also shows Pitt’s character interact with Bruce Lee (played by Mike Moh), while the film will also feature Damian Lewis as Steve McQueen and, in his final film role, Luke Perry as Wayne Maunder.
The release of the trailer comes just days after the official movie poster for Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood came under fire for what looked like excessive Photoshopping.
“I’m very excited to tell this story of an L.A. and a Hollywood that don’t exist anymore,” Tarantino has said. “And I couldn’t be happier about the dynamic teaming of DiCaprio and Pitt as Rick and Cliff.”
Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood will be released in Australia on August 15.
