Openly-gay singer Troye Sivan, 21, just called out the Prime Minister in a Twitter rant about the treatment of the Australian LGBT community.
In the wake of the tragic Orlando massacre which claimed the lives of 49 people and injured many others, PM Malcolm Turnbull tweeted out “All Australians stand with the people of the United States today, against terror and against hate.” He also attached a link to the Liberal Party’s official statement on the tragedy.
Sivan did not take kindly to the simple tweet, which failed to even mention the target group or location of the attack. And so, he unleashed a major rant against the PM. He pointed out the struggles faced by the LGBT community in a country where they are denied basic rights, such as being free to marry whomever they love!
few things – 1) you failed to mention that this was an attack on LGBT people in an LGBT space

2) we don't need sympathy. We need rights. Let us marry. Stop segregating LGBT people from the rest of our society

Until you make LGBT people feel like equal citizens, I don't think I'll feel like this was an attack on 'all of us'
