Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Abbie shot down cheating rumours and claims of a “messy” break-up, explaining that the truth wasn’t quite so juicy.

“There’s reasons why I haven’t confirmed this yet but there’s been a lot of speculation and articles and rumours,” she said in a video she confessed may seem “out of the blue”.

“I guess I wanted to confirm that yeah, Konrad and I have broken up. We’ve been broken up for a couple of months now.

“No one did anything bad or awful, there’s no drama to it. It was not because we were in an open relationship… Nothing bad happened.”

Abbie took a dig at the media for all the “opinion pieces” about her open relationship with Konrad, which allowed them both to sleep with other people while they were dating.

The Masked Singer judge made it clear that the arrangement had nothing to do with their split, before admitting she had hoped to announce the breakup in her own time.

“I wasn’t being deceitful by not telling people, there was a reason why there was a delay in telling you all,” she added.

“But I just didn’t want to be caught by paparazzi seeing someone else or whatever… him not living here anymore.”

Though Abbie insisted she didn’t owe anyone an explanation as to why she and Konrad split, the star wanted to nip all the rumours in the bud.

It was originally reported that the couple broke up after Konrad had a fling with Megan Marx, his co-star on the new reality TV show The Challenge.

While Abbie didn’t address that particular rumour, she insisted her and Konrad’s split wasn’t “anything dramatic” and said she won’t be sharing her relationships online anymore.

“I probably won’t ever share my relationship publicly again to be honest because this whole situation and the way the media have f–king reported on it… like it’s a game, like my relationship is a game… it’s quite f—ked,” she said in the video.

Her comments have reignited debate about the way we engage with public figures’ personal lives, especially in the age of social media.

While many local stars like Abbie would prefer to keep their personal lives private, sharing posts and videos about their love lives sadly opens them up to speculation when relationships end.
