She has walked the runway for Ralph Lauren and Stella McCartney, landed a coveted spot as a Victoria’s Secret angel and is now the latest face of iconic Australian swimwear brand Seafolly. But during a whirlwind trip home to Sydney earlier this month, Perth-born model Bridget Malcolm, 24, revealed some surprising plans for her future.

“When I’m done with modelling,” Malcolm says, “I’d love to go back to school, get a degree and get some work in the field of cancer research. I’ve always loved physics and was even interested in nuclear energy for a second there. I was also into biology—I’m fascinated by science.”

Malcolm, who also trained as a ballet dancer for 13 years and was an accomplished oboe player as a teenager, will return home in January to host a party for family and friends on Rottnest Island to celebrate her marriage to muso Nathaniel Hoho last July.

“We’re busy,” laughs Malcolm when asked for an update on her new marriage. “And we acknowledge that. But I always put him first. Communication is everything. I don’t often sleep well when I’m on jobs, so he keeps his phone on no matter the time zone. It’s little things like that that help me feel good.”
