We were all happy for Adele and Simon Konecki when they made their relationship public in 2012 — finally! After the heartbreak in 21 era, her new album in 2015, 25, filled us with happy tunes and feel-good lyrics. But it turns out, it still isn’t a happy ending after all.

Who is Simon Konecki?
Simon Konecki was born on April 1974. He was raised by his mother, Rosemary Konecki, and father, Andrew Konecki. He has two sisters: Alexandra Konecki and Victoria Konecki.
Simon grew up in New York for 10 years before moving to London with his family. Simon went to Eton, a prestigious boys school, for two years. During his schooldays, his nickname was “Swampy Guy”. He explained in The Grocer, “When I was in the City they used to call me Swampy, after that kid who tunnelled under Manchester Airport runway. Probably due to my long hair and Leftie views.”
He is also known to be a fan of Snoop Dogg, in one interview with The Grocer, Konecki was asked which celeb he would hire if a famous person were to join his staff, and he chose two: the CEO of PepsiCo, Indra K. Nooyi, because she “knows how to get things done,” and Snoop Dogg, who Konecki said would “answer the phones with his dulcet tones.”
Today, Simon’s parents, Rosemary and Andrew, live in Boca Raton in Florida.
What does Simon Konecki do?
Simon Konecki began his career at the early age of 17 as a foreign exchange broker. After a few more years, became a director in the company named EBS, an investment group which is a division of trading giant ICAP. In 1998, he resigned from EBS to move to Lehman Brothers, where he became a manager of a team of senior brokers.
Today, Simon is the CEO of Drop4Drop, a charity that aims to provide clean water in developing countries. He also co-founded Life Water with his friend, Lucas White, whom he met while studying in England. Life Water is an “ethical bottled water brand”. The business’s goal is to help obtain clean water access by installing clean water systems in small, out-of-reach places.
According to the Drop4Drop website, they conduct a majority of their work in Zambia, and over the past years, have reduced hospital admissions related to water-related illnesses by 60 percent.

In 2008, Simon Konecki and Clary Fisher divorced. They had a daughter who is now 8 years old. It was rumoured that Simon was already dating Adele around that time, although the world-famous singer denied such rumours. In her website, she wrote, “This is the first and last time I will comment on the details of my relationship with Simon. Contrary to reports and headlines in the press today, Simon is divorced and has been for 4 years. Everyone in our lives separately and together wish us nothing but the best, and vice versa. These are the facts.”
Adele and Simon went public with their relationship in 2012. They were seen publicly together which made a lot of people suspect their relationship. Adele also later announced her pregnancy in that year.
Angelo, their son, came into the picture on October 12, 2012.
When Adele won Best Original Song Motion Picture in the Golden Globes in 2013 for Skyfall, she told the press that she will no longer be using heartbreak as source for new material. According to her in Parade magazine, “I feel a little bit kind of overexcited. It’s my first night out since I had my child. And my inspiration normally comes from heartbreak, but I don’t think I am going to have to get devastated again, so that’s good.” She also thanked Simon for encouraging her to record the song.
Simon was an inspiration for the album 25, which was released in November 2015. When she accepted the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, she concluded her speech by saying, “Grammy’s, I appreciate it. The Academy, I love you. My manager, my husband and my son — you’re the only reason I do it.”
In an interview with the Rolling Stones in the same month, Adele admitted that her song, ‘Water Under the Bridge’, was specifically about Konecki and their relationship. She said, “It was sort of about a relationship suddenly getting really, really serious, and then getting a bit frightened by it, and then realising that ‘I think this must be right. This is the relationship that I want to be in for as long as I can possibly be in it.’”
Konecki and Adele celebrated their five-year anniversary on October 17, 2016. Konecki even surprised her on tour by replacing some confetti that rains down during ‘Rolling in the Deep’ with pink confetti that contained handwritten notes to her.
Simon and Adele’s relationship continued to go steady. Adele said in an interview with Variety in December 2016. “It’s the most serious relationship I’ve ever been in; we’ve got a child together, and we live together.”
In January 2017, the couple was spotted wearing rings, leading many to suspect they were married secretly. Adele confirmed this in March 2017.
Simon and Adele have reportedly split around April 2019, but it was rumoured that their relationship started to have difficulties months earlier. Adele’s spokesman confirmed the news: “Adele and her partner have separated. They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.” The two were already living separate lives before said split.
Adele filed for a divorce in September 2019. According to property records obtained by Us Weekly, Adele already gave her Los Angeles home to Simon Konecki about two months prior to announcing their split. A source said that “their relationship evolved, and they became more like friends than lovers”, and that they “realize the romantic love was no longer there”.
