Aubrey Plaza – who tragically lost her husband Jeff Baena in January, 2025 – is having her first child with her partner Chris Abbott.
The news was confirmed on April 8, 2026 by a representative of the star to PEOPLE magazine.
When was Aubrey Plaza’s pregnancy confirmed?
Both a representative for Aubrey Plaza and an insider source confirmed the pregnancy news to PEOPLE on the morning of April 8, 2026 (AEDT).
The insider source described the baby news as “a beautiful surprise” for the couple “after an emotional year.”
“They feel very blessed,” the source added.
Last month, Aubrey was spotted at 2026 Paris Fashion Week with some stunning, but loose-fitting, looks that has fans and insiders connecting the dots about Aubrey’s pregnancy. Wearing an oversized leather jacket at the Loewe show and a super baggy red polo shirt at the Lacoste show, the 41-year-old has pulled off pregnancy with style.
Who is Aubrey Plaza’s new partner?
Chris Abbott, 40, is an American actor known for his work in the independent film space.
The pair recently collaborated together on the off-Broadway revival of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, as well as the 2020 film Black Bear.
Aubrey Plaza’s late husband tragically passed last year
Aubrey’s late husband, screenwriter and director Jeff Baena, tragically died by suicide in January, 2025. The pair met in 2011 and married in 2021.
In August, 2025, Aubrey opened up to her Parks and Recreation co-star Amy Poehler on her podcast Good Hang. When asked about how she was doing during a “terrible, terrible, tragic year.”
“Right in this very, very present moment, I feel happy to be with you,” Aubrey said. “Overall, I’m here and I’m functioning. I feel really grateful to be moving through the world. I think I’m OK, but it’s like a daily struggle, obviously.”
What is Aubrey working on now?
In 2025, Aubrey had a slew of film releases, such as the murder mystery Honey Don‘t!, where she stared alongside Margaret Qualley and Chris Evans, and Let’s Love!, an off-Broadway play written by Ethan Coen.
For 2026, Aubrey has a new film Animal Friends coming out in May and may potentially be reprising her MCU role as Death in Avengers: Doomsday in December.
The star has also been tapped to star in and produce The Heidi Fleiss Story, where she will portray the infamous “Hollywood madam” Heidi Fleiss who was busted in the 90s for operating what was said to be the world’s largest high-end prostitution ring.
