Speaking to the Ben, Rob & Robbo show, the former Bachelorette, 31, explained that she and fiancé Lee, 38, planned to marry in the European nation, but due to the pandemic and resulting travel restrictions, it won’t be the case anymore.

“We were planning a wedding for Italy next summer, so in 2021. It was always going to be in 2021 anyway, but we’ve gone back on those plans,” Georgia revealed.

“We figured there’s too many ‘What if’s’ in the world at the moment, there’s too many variables. Even if borders re-open up, even if we’re all fine to travel by then, even if Italy’s fine by then, we don’t want to put it on our family and friends that they have to find the money to do so in such uncertain times with people losing jobs and everything”.

Georgia then shared the updated plans, adding: “What was kind of a dream is now just a distant memory and we’ve gone back to the natural next step of Tasmania”.

Tasmania holds a special significance for Georgia, as it was where she lived and worked as a reporter just before she became the 2016 Bachelorette.

After the tragic death of her mum shortly after her reality TV experience, Georgia, who is orginally from Melbourne, shared an emotional post as she moved back to her hometown.

“Melbourne will always be home but Tassie will always have my heart. Finally making the trip across Bass Strait on the @spiritoftas with all my belongings, memories and emotions! I’ll miss you, Homebart,” the reporter posted.

In a previous chat with WHO Georgia, who planned to wed Bachelorette winner Lee in Sicily, reavealed it had always been the couple’s dream to have a destination wedding.

“Travelling has always been such a huge thing to both us. It’s a huge part of our relationship and it brings us so much joy, and it’s what we spend all our money on,” she said.

“We work to be able to travel, and we’ve been to a few destination weddings and they’ve been wonderful. You’re on holidays with your favourite people. It’s all we’d ever spoken about doing, which in hindsight is very silly. That’s what hurts the most, we’ve never actually talked about doing anything else.”

The TV journalist also added that she’d started dress shopping when coronavirus restrictions came into place.

“I was actually in a bridal boutique when my sister read out on her phone that Scott Morrison was holding a press conference announcing that all restaurants were shutting down. I thought,’Oh s–t.’ And also, ‘Um, can you concentrate on me in the beautiful white dress?’” she joked.
