Isla and Sacha are proud parents of three but if you trawl through Isla’s social media, you won’t find any family photos.

In a chat with Marie Claire Australiathe redheaded actress revealed the understandable reason why she doesn’t share pics of her children.

“Motherhood is actually my favourite topic – but I keep it private,” she confessed.

“I think all parents are trying to protect their kids, especially in the social media age. I want our children to have a normal childhood – being able to play outside without pressure or scrutiny. All kids have the right to just be kids, and I would never sell a film or magazine by speaking about [mine].”

This isn’t the first time the mum-of-three has spoken about protecting her children’s privacy.

“If you speak about your children or if you take them to a red carpet event, you can’t be litigious later on when there is a picture of them in something and say, ‘Hey, they deserve anonymity,’ but they do,” Isla told Today in 2017

“They have rights, too. It’s a very conscious decision and truly I would feel really disgusting about myself if I used my family to sell something. It wouldn’t sit right with me. It doesn’t line up with my values.”

She added: “Obviously, I am a mum and motherhood is the thing that I’m most proud of and it’s my favourite topic in my personal life. If you were my friend and we went for coffee, you would be like ‘Oh my god. All she talks about are her kids.'”

In 2020, Isla and Sacha made the bold decision to move their family from the US to Sydney, Australia but it wasn’t just because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“They didn’t want to raise their kids in Trump’s America,” a source close to the couple told Emerald City in January.

The celebrity mum-of-three confessed in 2018 that “juggling a family in LA isn’t easy”.

“There’s not really a culture of bringing your kids to dinner parties or to restaurants past 6pm. I tend to entertain at home because I want to be with my family – it’s easier to put your kids to bed and have a wine with friends,” she told Marie Claire.

Of course Isla regularly treats fans to photos of herself and her husband.

The couple first met in Sydney in 2001 and tied the knot in a private Parisian ceremony in March 2010. Isla even converted to Judaism in order to have a Jewish ceremony.

“It is very important to me to have a beautiful ritual celebrated with my family and friends. And when you are in the public eye, to keep that private and to make it happen without it being really visible is really difficult,” she told US magazine Allure ahead of her wedding day.
