It has been revealed that Jaimi Kenny, the daughter of Australian sporting legends Lisa Curry and Grant Kenny, who died on Monday at age 33, had been receiving treatment for an eating disorder before her tragic death.

Jaimi died at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital on Monday morning, close to the End ED clinic, where she underwent treatment for several years.

Staff at the facility paid tribute to Jaimi on social media this week, while Jaimi’s mother Lisa thanked the doctors and nurses at the hospital for caring for her sick daughter.

While Jaimi’s family are yet to confirm the exact cause of her death, the End ED’s mission statement makes the purpose of the facility clear.

“EndED  provides support to local, interstate and international families and sufferers, and is working with nationally and world recognised organisations to create awareness and foster attitudes of hope around eating disorders,” the organisation states on its website.

“EndED gives an authentic voice to living with a biopsychosocial illness and treating the person not the diagnosis.”

One of the clinic’s eating disorder recovery coaches, Millie Thomas, paid tribute to Jaimi in a heartfelt social media post this week, where she referred to the gorgeous blonde as her “best friend”.

“Fly high my darling Jaimi,” Millie wrote.

“You are my best friend + my soul sister + you always will be. My heart is shattered into a million pieces right now – I can’t fathom life without you.

“My days will never ever be the same without your love, your light + your laughter. You mean the world to me darling heart + I will love you forever and always.”

When Lisa paid tribute to her daughter earlier this week, she thanked staff at the Sunshine Coast hospital, where Jaimi received treatment just before she died.

“We thank all the paramedics, support staff and the incredible team at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital for their tireless commitment to give us the extra time we were able to spend with Jaimi,” Lisa wrote on Instagram.

In the heartbreaking message, Lisa said that her grief was “so painful” that she “can hardly breathe.”

“Our hearts are completely broken. Our beautiful daughter Jaimi has lost her battle with a long-term illness and passed away peacefully in hospital yesterday morning with her loving family by her side. Our hearts are broken and the pain is unbearable but we cherish every wonderful moment we got to share with our treasured and so loved first child,” Lisa wrote.

“Rest in peace my beautiful baby. I will miss you every sunrise, I will miss you when the sun is shining and the birds are singing. I will miss you when the clouds are dark and stormy and when the rainbow appears.

“I will miss you when I close my eyes. I will miss you when I open my eyes. I will miss our long hugs and long chats.  I sit and just shake my head. It doesn’t seem real or right. You will forever be with me in my heart Jaimi. I love you so much.”

Lisa’s husband Mark Tabone, whom she married in 2018, also penned his own tribute to his step-daughter.

“As the tears flow and the heart aches, I write this as a tribute to a beautiful young lady, who’s life ended way too soon,” Mark wrote.

“As your mother & father weep your loss, I too feel lost and heavy hearted. Nobody should ever lose their child.

“My job now is to nurture my wife through this unimaginable time.”

Jaimi’s siblings, Jett Kenny and Morgan Gruell, also paid tribute to their sister on social media.

Jett, 26, who has carved out a career as a model, professional ironman and TV star, having appeared on Dancing With The Stars last year, shared a heartfelt message to his Instagram followers, where he hinted at a fraught relationship between himself and Jaimi.

“I may not have been the best brother to you all the time, I know you thought you weren’t being the big sister I needed all the time, but I do know we loved one another unconditionally all the time,” Jett wrote, alongside a beautiful throwback photo of the pair.

But despite their differences, Jett said he will forever love and remember his older sister.

“I will love you forever. Rest In peace my beautiful big sister, the world lost one of its treasures yesterday, but heaven gained one. You will be dearly missed by all whose lives you touched.”
