Jock Zonfrillo’s widow, Lauren Fried has given fans an intimate look into the family’s journey with grief, as she navigates life with her two young children following the MasterChef judge’s death in April.

Loz, who is the mother of Jock’s two youngest children, Alfie, 5, and Isla, 2, has taken over the late chef’s Instagram account, regularly posting sweet tributes and memories of her husband.

In July, Lauren revealed the sweet request her oldest child, Alfie made.

“Alfie has asked me to do some of his Papa activities with him – making crepes and doing hours of Lego were in his requests,” she wrote in the caption.

“I went with the easiest option of a trip to the barber, which the boys used to do together, followed by gelato.

“It put a smile on his face, which was beautiful.”

Alongside the heartwarming anecdote were photographs of her son in the barber’s chair and enjoying ice cream.

In June she shared with fans a look at how she has begun to navigate the grief journey with her two young children, revealing which books have helped her and her family.

“Books have been a bridge to help me explain to our little ones what has happened, what they are feeling, and that love is always around them,” she wrote on Instagram.
“These are the top three (of many purchases) that the kids have connected with.”

The three books she suggested were The Invisible String by Patrice Karst, The Goodbye Book by Todd Parr and Beginnings and Endings with Lifetimes in Between by Bryan Mellonie and Robert Ingpen.

Lauren also shared a heartbreaking update later the same week, sharing with followers that her daughter Isla had “started sleeping with Papa’s clothes” to “keep him close.”

Jock Zonfrillo, 46, died in Melbourne on April 30 this year, with news first breaking just hours before the current season of MasterChef was set to premiere. A statement from his loved ones was shared via his Instagram reading: “With completely shattered hearts and without knowing how we can possibly move through life without him, we are devastated to share that Jock passed away yesterday.”

“So many words can describe him, so many stories can be told, but at this time we’re too overwhelmed to put them into words. For those who crossed his path, became his mater, or were lucky enough to be his family, keep this proud Scot in your hearts when you have your next Whisky.”

“We implore you to please let us grieve privately as we find a way to navigate through this, and find space on the other side to celebrate our irreplaceable husband, father, brother, son and friend.”

When he wasn’t on the screen serving as judge on MasterChef Australia, Jock was at home with his beautiful wife and kids. He was known for being a loving and proud family man.

In an exclusive chat with WHO, last year, the celebrity chef couldn’t help but gush over his wife Lauren Fried.

“I’d never believed in love at first sight until I met her,” Jock told us. “She just swept me off my feet in such an unsuspecting way as well.”

“And then us having kids together just made that family bond even better,” Jock explained, adding that living in Australia has had a real “positive influence”.

“Having the family life is brilliant for me.”

Jock married his wife on New Year’s Day 2017. They share two children together, five-year-old Alfie, and two-year-old daughter Isla.

Jock is also survived by two teenage daughters, Ava and Sophia, from his first two marriages.
