There’s nothing quite like a put-down from your mum to bring you back to reality!
While Michelle Obama’s surprise appearance at the 2019 Grammy Awards was a hit with viewers, the former First Lady’s mother wasn’t so easily pleased.
The Becoming author, 55, unveiled a string of text message of witty texts between herself and mum Marian Robinson following her turn at the high-profile event.
“When your mom doesn’t think you’re a ‘real’ celebrity,” Obama captioned the screenshots. “Tonight in Phoenix, I shared this text thread from my mom from #Grammys night, and I just had to share it with all of you. #TextsFromMom.”
Robinson, 81, started the conversation with, “I guess you were a hit at the Grammys,” before her daughter asked if she watched it. “I saw it because Gracie called me,” Robinson wrote. “Did you meet any of the real stars or did you run right after you were done?”
While Michelle tried to convince her mum she’d already mentioned her appearance, Robinson was having none of it.
“No you did not. I would have remembered that even though I don’t remember much,” she said, to which Michelle replied: “I thought I told you. And I Am A real star … by the way …”
