It looks like Prince Harry may have inspired a certain Bridgerton character

We knew his and Meghan's love story looked familiar.

So… after a long build up, the first three episodes of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan, dropped last night. And, as expected, there’s been a lot of commentary around it.

There were plenty of quote unquote “bombshells” dropped – including that the couple met on Instagram after Harry saw Meghan in ~that~ dog Snapchat filter and simply had to have her (queue the Snapchat headquarters scrambling to make this into a marketing campaign).

Meghan also claimed that the paparazzi paid her neighbours to spy on her, while the duchess’ mother Doria Ragland admitted she felt “unsafe” around the paps.

There was, of course, allusions to the royal family – with the former Suits actress admitting she was taken aback that the Brits don’t like hugging all that much, and that some are just as formal behind closed doors.

Look, all great stuff. Great drama. Bring on the next three episodes. However, there was one key point in the documentary that REALLY jumped out to us – and reminded us of a certain regency-era Netflix drama.

In episode one of the tell-all, Harry and Meghan explained that during his early “courtship” days, the duke had an “extensive list” of qualities he was looking for in a partner.

“He had a list apparently of what he was looking for. An extensive list,” Meghan told the interviewer, to which Harry replied: “I’m not showing you the list.”

Yeah, good call – we all remembered what happened with Ross and Rachel, right?

The interaction, however, reminded us of a certain scene from Netflix’s Bridgerton season two involving Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma. Remember when the former proclaimed his MANY requirements for a wife to his mates?? But Kate overheard him.

“I take issue with any man who views women as chattels and breeding stock,” Kate tells Viscount Bridgerton when he catches her eavesdropping. “When you manage to find this paragon of virtue, whatever makes you think she will accept your suit? Are the young ladies of London truly so easily won by a pleasing smile and absolutely nothing more?”

In true Anthony style, all he took from that mic-drop monologue was that Kate found his smile pleasing. But, we all know what happened with the two of them by the end of the season, right? A true regency-era enemies-to-lovers fairytale.

And just like Anthony and Kate, a list didn’t get in the way of Harry and Meghan’s romance, in fact, the prince spared (no pun intended) himself in the doco by pointing to his wife and saying: “this is the list.”

If you ask us, the only logical next step is Harry and Meghan having a cameo in Bridgerton season three. Netflix, make it happen.
