ROYAL ROMANCE: William and Kate’s love story in pictures

It’s been 10 years since Prince William married his sweetheart, Catherine Middleton, in a lavish Westminster Abbey wedding on April 29 2011, which was watched by royal fans across the globe.

Their love story is the stuff of fairy tales, with a meet cute that will melt hearts.

William and Kate met at St Andrew’s University in 2001 where they both studied art history. And the pair began as friends before becoming romantically involved in 2003 when they started dating.

Their relationship was finally revealed after they were spotted skiing in Klosters together in March 2004.

After graduating in 2005, the pair holiday in the Caribbean hideaway island of Mustique in April 2006.

Their relationship hits the rocks and the couple split in April 2007, but by June they are reported to be dating again.

The couple move in together into a cottage in north Wales close to Prince William’s RAF Valley in Angelsey in June 2010.

They were married at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011, and their wedding attracted 23 million viewers worldwide.

Kate wore an Alexander McQueen wedding gown, which was estimated to have cost $434,000.

The couple kissed on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, much to the delight of the watching crowds. 

Street parties were held throughout the UK to celebrate the special day.

They announce Kate’s first pregnancy in December 2012, as it is reported that the Duchess has been hospitalised with severe morning sickness (hyperemesis gravidarum).

Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge was born on July 22, 2013. The proud parents showed off their newborn son on the steps of the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital in London the next day.

Eager to grow their young family, Kate was pregnant again by the next year.

On May 2, 2015 Kate gave birth to a baby girl, whom they named Charlotte Elizabeth Diana – a nod to William’s late mother.

The littlest Cambridge, Prince Louis Arthur Charles, was born on April 21, 2018 to complete the family. He is adored by his parents and siblings, George and Charlotte.

The couple continue to enjoy life together, finding fun in special moments, both big and small. 

Photographed on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during the Trooping the Colour to celebrate the Queen’s birthday last year they were pictured laughing and joking together.

And what’s more important in a successful relationship than making each other laugh?

To celebrate 10 years of marriage, Kensington Palace shared two stunning photographs of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Dressed in blue – the colour symbolic to for 10th anniversary – the couple smile in each other’s arms in the grounds of their Kensington Palace home.

Royal fans were quick to note that one was very reminiscent of their engagement portrait.
