Prince Andrew and his now ex-wife Sarah Ferguson were married on July 23, 1986 at Westminster Abbey, so Eugenie’s tribute on Wednesday was a day late, but the sweet sentiment didn’t go amiss.

“Who else has ever forgotten to congratulate their parents on their wedding anniversary!” she wrote alongside a photo pf her parents’ special day.

“I’m a day late but I wanted to celebrate my parents getting married 33 years ago… Thank you for always being the best of friends and bringing us up together.”

Eugenie proudly shared two photograph’s from their royal wedding – one in black and white and another in colour.

Both snaps showed the couple looking happy on their big day.

However, by 1992 their marriage had crumbled and the pair split, before divorcing in 1996.

While they were no longer together romantically, the Duke and Duchess of York always remained friends, and parented their two children together.

Eugenie, 29, and her sister, Beatrice, 30, have always found comfort in the fact their parents are friends.

“Although we are not a couple, we really believe in each other,” Sarah told the Daily Mail in 2018.

“The Yorks are a united family. We’ve shown it. You saw it at the wedding. My duty is to him. I am so proud of him. I stand by him and always will. The way we are is our fairytale.”

While royal fans have always hoped the couple would get back together, rumours of a reconciliation have reached fever pitch over recent months.

Whether a remarriage will happen remains to be seen.
