Love is in the air for Zooey Deschanel, with the actor announcing that she is engaged to her partner Jonathan Scott after four years together.
The New Girl star took to Instagram to share the exciting news with fans; sharing a heartwarming photo of the couple alongside the caption “Forever starts now!!!”
Both fans and famous friends took to the comments to celebrate the couple’s engagement, with Courtney Cox, Leslie Mann, and Rose Byrne sending their love to the new fiancés.
According to People, Property Brothers host Jonathan popped the question during a picturesque family holiday to Scotland, with Deschanel’s two children, Elsie and Charlie, also taking part in the heartfelt proposal.
The location of the couple’s proposal is one that is close to Jonathan’s heart, with Jonathan’s father emigrating from his home in Scotland to Canada during his teenage years.
Deschanel first met Scott in 2019 while filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke: The Series, with the couple appearing alongside Jonathan’s twin brother and fellow Property Brothers host Drew Scott and Zooey’s sister, Bones star Emily Deschanel.
Speaking on their first meeting, Deschanel told The Drew Barrymore Show, “I just couldn’t believe he was so nice. I went to say hi to him, and I hadn’t met him before, but he had messaged me on Instagram saying, ‘I’m looking forward to meeting you,’ so I went to meet him and he’s just the nicest person.”
“It’s definitely special for me because I am the guy who raises the bar in what I’m looking for in a partner. I was caught a little off guard. It was definitely a pleasant surprise,” Scott previously told Us about their first meeting.
After hitting it off on set, the couple’s romance continued to blossom, with Us reporting that the Hollywood couple bonded over their shared love of all things music, theatre, and film.
Deschanel and Scott made their first public appearance as a couple at the taping of an episode of Dancing with the Stars in September 2019, with Us reporting that the new lovers “appeared very comfortable together.”
The pair made their new romance Instagram official one month later, with Jonathan sharing an adorable photo of himself carrying Zooey through a group of Halloween performers.
The couple recently celebrated their four-year anniversary on August 5, with Deschanel sharing a heartfelt tribute to Instagram.
“4 years since I met this freaking dreamboat. I love him more every day. I’m forever grateful!” she wrote.
“You make me immensely happy. Every second of every day. I love the heck out of you,” replied Jonathan.
The Property Brothers star also shared his own witty tribute to his beloved Zooey, writing, “500 days of @zooeydeschanel… actually, it’s been a lot more, but who’s counting anyway? 4 years really flies by. Happy anniversary baby!!!”
