It’s no secret that Elsa Pataky and Chris Hemsworth are a super sporty couple – I mean, those abs don’t just appear out of thin air.
But fans of the Super Bowl? Now that’s something we didn’t know.
From their game-day ritual to their sports fandom and, now, their Super Bowl ad; the parents-of-three opened up about how their love of the NFL began, especially since Pataky hails from Spain and Hemsworth is from Australia.
What got Elsa and Chris into the Super Bowl?
When it comes to how the couple got into NFL, Hemsworth told PEOPLE: “We lived in America for a little while, but we’re not avid, obsessed fans. Especially living in Australia, it’s not as big a deal.”
“But I just love the event, and when we lived in America, friends of ours would host Super Bowl parties, and it’s pretty damn special,” he added.

“Whether or not you are rooting for one particular team or the other, it’s very hard not to be wrapped up in the spectacle of the event and the sheer talent that’s on display,” Hemsworth explained.
Speaking about the sports they follow generally, he added: “We watch a lot [of], like, UFC – even Elsa loves a lot of that – and we’ll watch professional surfing, Australian football.”

“Anytime there’s excellence displayed at such a pinnacle, it’s hard to turn away,” the actor shared.
Chris and Elsa’s 2026 Super Bowl ad
Hemsworth and Pataky star in a new Super Bowl commercial for Amazon, with Hemsworth convinced in the ad that Alexa+ is plotting his demise.
At the start of the ad, Hemsworth is seen walking indoors with a giant snake in his hand, totally unphased, but when he hears Pataky, in conversation with Alexa+, he begins to freak out and say [Alexa] will hurt them!
Alexa+ subsequently questions the actor, asking, “Now, how would I do that?” and he imagines up several different scenarios – including chopping his head off with a garage door or hiding him from others as he loses a fight to a bear outdoors.
However, Pataky tells her husband that he is letting his imagination run wild, and after Alexa+ jokes, “You seem tense”.
Alexa+ then schedukes Hemsworth a massage with a cinnamon scrub, to which the Avengers actor says: “Wait, you can do that? I do love a cinnamon scrub.”
Chris and Elsa’s Aussie life
The pair (who share three children- India Rose, 13, and 11-year-old twin boys Sasha and Tristan) practically “live outside” according to Pataky.
“We got a big plot of land, a farm with horses, and our kids surf and fish and ride motorbikes all day,” Hemsworth added, before saying: “And we pretty much do the same.”
The family left the US to continue raising their family Down Under in the stunning surf town of Byron Bay on Australia’s Gold Coast.
“It’s just being able to enjoy nature. When we go to a city, it’s hard for us as a family, because we live outside, basically,” Pataky explained. “We are in contact with nature all the time.”
