It’s been 14 years since a spiky-haired punk-singing Lee Harding made his debut on Australian Idol. And while his passion for singing is more present than ever, the 38-year-old reveals he’s changed his tune, naturally forging the path to performing rock.
“It’s been 16 years since I started singing, I’ve upgraded my stage thrust a little; I’m still loving it,” Harding tells WHO. “My voice has changed,” he says. “It’s stronger. I changed my genre from pop punk to rock.”
And that’s not the only thing that’s changed – the rocker also has a new look. “I’ve slowly evolved; I look completely different. I have curly long hair – it’s kind of a Michael Hutchence look.”
One thing that never changes, though, is his devotion to his young family. In recent years, Harding married his partner of 20 years, Nicole, and welcomed daughter Blaize, 6, and 6-week-old son Ryker.
“I’ve got my family now and my outlook on life has changed and I’ve realised what’s really important,” he explains. “I’m at the point where I’m going to give it a go for myself. And I’ve got the same support from my family, as well.”
