NEED TO KNOW
- Farmer Alex was the first to leave this season of Farmer Wants A Wife, choosing 30-year-old lawyer Eddy.
- There were reports the couple split shortly after filming wrapped, with paparazzi photos showing Eddy out with a new man, Matthis, near her Brisbane home.
- The pair confirmed their split during the reunion.
- Both Alex and Eddy revealed to WHO exactly how the breakup went down and confessed that they haven’t spoken since the reunion.
Farmer Alex was the first to pick his lady on this season of Farmer Wants A Wife, leaving well ahead of the other four men. It seems the mushroom farmer only had eyes for Eddy — the 30-year-old lawyer — with the other women vying for his heart struggling to get any attention.
A major turning point in their love story was when he cancelled his solo date with Rachel after speaking with his parents, explaining that it didn’t feel right to go through with it when his heart was so firmly set elsewhere.
We love a decisive man, but the question remains: are Alex and Eddy still together after filming wrapped at the end of last year?
It’s a resounding no.
The pair both spoke to WHO separately to explain what happened during their breakup.
But first, let’s take a walk down memory lane, shall we?

Farmer Alex left the show early, knowing Eddy was the one
Alex confided that he hadn’t ever planned on leaving earlier than the rest of the farmers.
“Ultimately, I was having a really great time with the experience, and to be plain, I was really enjoying seeing the lads every week, you know?
“I certainly didn’t deny myself wanting to leave early, though,” he told WHO at the time of his departure from the show, with Eddy by his side.

‘I got to know the real Alex’
However, it didn’t take long for Alex and Eddy to go their separate ways.
Before the reunion on August 2, New Idea revealed that the pair quietly broke up just after filming wrapped at the end of last year.
While details on the timing of their breakup were a point of contention for the pair during the reunion — with Eddy saying they tried for a month after leaving the show, and Alex claiming it was only a couple of weeks — Eddy told WHO how and why the breakup happened.
“I think I realised pretty quickly after filming had ended that we weren’t compatible,” she confessed to WHO. “I think that Alex was very charming throughout the show, and maybe that kind of fogged my perspective on things.
“Then once things had stopped filming, I think I got to know the real Alex – not in any sort of negative way, but just maybe the less polished version of him – and I was kind of like, ‘Oh, this isn’t my person, and I don’t think that I’m his person either.’”
Eddy confessed that she has regrets about how she went about the breakup.
“I don’t know if I handled it the best way,” she said. “I was away for work at the time. I was away for weeks at a time – I was supposed to be only gone for two weeks, and I ended up having to stay for close to four weeks – and while I was away, once we had that break from each other, I was like, ‘I can’t do this anymore.’”
“This is not there in either of us. We shouldn’t be together. And I broke up with him over FaceTime, which I’m like, should I have waited until I got home?”
However, despite Eddy’s reservations and reports of Alex’s broken heart, Alex claimed that they “broke up on really good terms”.
“It was it was totally justified,” he said. “We had a fair conversation.”
The reunion was ‘intense’, according to Eddy
During the reunion, Alex had a lot of unanswered questions for Eddy on the couch, asking her why she didn’t give them enough of a chance before calling it quits.
Alex revealed why he went into the reunion with this eager “energy” for answers.
“I think the experience was so intense,” he admitted. “We both, I thought, had a really good time together, and I watched it back and saw that in both of us.
“We were really connected while the cameras were rolling. Maybe when life hit again, Ed realised that there were some things she couldn’t compromise on – I don’t know – I even feel a little bit bad that I just said that about her because I can’t speak for it.”
Alex confessed that he was most hurt that they “didn’t get the opportunity to really debrief on it”.
“It just sort of ended, and that was why I went to the reunion with the energy I did,” he said. “I wasn’t so much lamenting over what we lost because we didn’t build anything after the experience – we didn’t get the opportunity to fall for each other. It just ended.”

Eddy has a new boyfriend
Despite the reunion being filmed in January, Eddy confessed to having started a new relationship at that time as well.
After sources told New Idea before the reunion that she had moved on with an Aussie-based Frenchman, who goes by the name ‘Matthis’, the lawyer confirmed to WHO that she’s “dating somebody new now.”
“I’m very happy, and he’s definitely more like my kind of person, which is good,” she said.
“We met and started dating like end of January,” she added. “And then it was very much a slow burn. We just wanted to take it at our own pace, and that was such a breath of fresh air. There was no rush.
“There’s no one filming us 24/7, you know? We can just do it at our own speed, and that’s what we very much want to do.”
When it comes to Alex and his relationship status, there is no indication he has met someone new, but the farmer did confirm to us that he has “moved on in many ways”, so who knows!
