Farmer Zac broke down in tears when he sent Grace home in the latest episode of Farmer Wants A Wife — a moment so heartbreaking and surprising to fans that some even admitted to shedding a tear themselves.
The apple farmer has been praised for “wearing his heart on his sleeve” and being “mature” for his young age throughout the show, making him a firm favourite because of it.
However, the decision left many second-guessing their initial impression.
As the 24-year-old waved goodbye to Grace at the Black Tie event, Mieke couldn’t quite believe she was still in the running, telling WHO she, too, thought she would be the one packing her bags instead.
The ‘curse’ that left Mieke thinking she would be sent home
Throughout the series, Mieke has survived multiple ‘eliminations’ as woman after woman has been asked to leave Zac’s farm.
Each time, the 22-year-old flight attendant believed it would be her next, because she “didn’t really think” she had a connection with Zac for one simple reason — she’s a chronic overthinker.
“I’m just such an overthinker. I’m always like, ‘No, it’s going to be me’. I’m such an overthinking queen, which is not a blessing; it’s actually a curse,” she told WHO. “I thought a hundred per cent the whole way through [that] Grace was top two. Their connection is so strong.”
She admits that at the start of the show, she was quiet and felt awkward around Zac because there “wasn’t much to speak about”, she was mindful that this was in stark contrast to how things were going between Grace and Zac.

After enjoying some one-on-one time with Zac on their date last week however, a connection blossomed and set them on the right path.
Since their bond was strengthening and Zac still had to decide which woman to send home, Grace was ultimately asked to leave, with their early spark not enough for Zac to hold onto amid the change in pace between him and Mieke.
Mieke admitted her overthinking continued, even when she had made it to the top two alongside Maya.
Fans question the connection between Mieke and Zac
With the sudden change of heart, fans were left questioning how strong the connection with Mieke could really be if Zac hadn’t spent much time with her.
“I don’t understand Grace going. Mieke and him have no connection to me, there are just no sparks there,” the viewer said, while another didn’t like that Zac checked to make sure Mieke was still interested before giving Grace “the boot”.
“I’m kind of shocked about how Zac has been talking about this last-minute supposed connection and chemistry that he has with Mieke, because I honestly am not feeling any sparks or chemistry when watching them on the screen,” a third said.
Only time will tell if the viewers (and Mieke’s overthinking) are right.
